Today we Go a Little Deeper. Once A Patient Has Been Deemed "Cancer Free" They Need to Get a Bone Marrow Transplant to Re-Grow Their Immune System. Most Matches will Come from Direct Family Members or From Someone in the Same Gene Pool. It is Important to Go out and Give a Mouth Swab Sample and Join Your Local Donor Registries.
We Encourage ALL ARMENIANS to Join the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry. It is Simple and Easy. They Take a Swab From Your Inner Check and Put you in the Database. When There is an Armenian in Need of a Transplant, Their Chances of Surviving are Much Greater When A Donor is Found. Finding a match depends on inherited characteristics. Therefore, a patient’s best chance, outside of his/her family, is a donor from the same ethnic ancestry. Unfortunately thousands of patients die each year because they are not able to find a match. When you register to become a donor, you may be the ONE who matches a patient and saves a life.
